Coming up on Six Months...

When we see the Winns in Seattle, we'll be exactly three months away from our due date! I can't believe how fast it's going and how big my belly is getting! Sometimes it still surprises me to look down and see it there.

We have our next appointment next Thursday. I think the doctor is just taking measurements. We'll probably also have to get our TDAP shots. Marissa- don't say a word to me about it! We went in last minute last week because I had uneven swelling. Everything turned out okay. The doctor took some measurements then and he said everything looked on track, good heart beat and bump measurements. I'll also have to have the glucose screening test soon. They give me a sugar drink to drink, I wait around in the lab for an hour and then have my blood drawn. Then we cross our fingers that I don't have gestational diabetes! Who knew there were so many needles involved with pregnancy?!

Mallory is kicking away all the time. She took a couple days off from the big ones but came back with a vengeance yesterday. It's so weird to see the belly twitch!

Emily and I were in class together this morning. Mallory and Jack were both awake the whole time. Maybe they were trying to play with each other!

As for Mallory, she's weighing close to a pound and a half. She'll gain about 6 ounces this week alone! Her skin is still transparent and she's covered in hair called lanugo. Sounds cute doesn't it? For our wedding anniversary, Grandma has offered to get a 3D ultrasound. We're going to talk to the doctor about it next week, but we might be able to see little Mallory's development up close and personal!

We're starting to get the nursery together. We picked up the crib today (thanks Winns!). Paul's in there as I type putting it together. We also have the dresser/changing table in, with cute drawer pulls that Paul helped pick out :) He's going to be such a good daddy!

Spring Break is Here!

It took forever to get here, but finally, spring break is here. I can get some much needed rest. Pregnancy can sure knock you off your feet!

Nothing much has changed on the baby front, at least for me. I'm feeling better but still have some harder days every once in a while.  I'm still not really showing, unless you count bloating ;)

Baby Winn, on the other hand, has had a lot of changes since I posted last. Tomorrow we start week 16. At that point, Baby Winn is about 4.5 inches from head to rump (about the size of an advocado). You can tell from the picture below, Baby looks much more like a human now. Clark, sorry it took so long to show you a human like picture! Although Baby's eyelids aren't opeinging yet, it can react to light. They say if you shine a flashlight at my belly, the baby will move away from the light. Right now, the scalp pattern is forming and Baby is growing finger and toe nails. Over the next few weeks, Baby will double in size again!

On May 9th, we have our ultrasound to find out the sex of Baby Winn. At least for the Fosburgh family, we'll keep the secret until the "Baby Reveal Party" that weekend. I guess that's all for now!

First Day of Spring Baby Update

Happy Spring everyone! There's not many changes on the baby front, but we're getting close to the end of the first trimester. On Monday, we'll be starting week 12 (the time the baby is the size of a plum). At the end of week 13, we'll be entering the second trimester! Currently we're at the end of week 11 (when the baby is the size of a lime or fig). Baby Winn is kicking and stretching, but I won't feel that until (s)he gets a bit bigger. Baby's fingers and toes are no longer webbed as well (hopefully!). Little baby teeth, hair and fingernails are forming now as well.

I'm starting to feel better. I still have days of being sick and tired, but they have many more days of feeling good in between them than they used to. Sometimes it's hard to tell what's the pregnancy and what's not. Last week felt like a bad week for symptoms, but it could have been the report card push wearing me down. Or, of course, both could have been teaming up against me :) I've been feeling good this weekend, now that report cards are home. I even helped Paul with cutting down a tree this morning! I did tucker out before he did though. Poor guy was out there in the rain!

Our next doctor appointment is on the 30th. I switched doctors, so this will be the first time meeting her. I don't think we do an ultra sound then. Our ultrasound appointment isn't until the first week in May. That's when we'll find out the sex of Baby Winn. It feels like a long time to wait, but we're very excited! And who knows, maybe since my doctor is just meeting me, she'll want to do an ultrasound and we'll get to see the baby again before May!

Well, off to watch Paul finish off the tree with a chainsaw!

Yikes! It's been a long time!

Hi all! Just a quick check in to let you know I have not forgotten about the blog. It is currently, the most dreaded time of the school year... report cards! They take me about an hour or so per kiddo, so that means 20 extra hours of work. Considering I've been functioning only about 6 hours a day, it's been tricky to find any spare time. Report cards go home Friday. So... it's crunch time! That also means that this will be a much needed weekend and I'll have some time again to update you on all things Baby Winn. Don't worry, I'll let you all know what type of fruit the baby is when I write then!

Blogging in Bed

Well, we had our orientation appointment today. We both learned a few things. I've already been eating foods that aren't recommended (deli meat and sprouts), whoops! We know now I guess...

What I didn't know was that they would be doing a blood draw today. Anyone that knows my history with needles knows this is not a good thing. Ugh... I'm having flashbacks to the hour it took to put in an IV before surgery... Being cold and having not eaten didn't help either. The first try in my arm didn't work, but don't worry, I didn't pass out. My ears were ringing, and I was sweating, but I didn't pass out. After I freaked out a bit, I let the guy try on my hand. He used a baby needle and got it! Thank God! They took so much blood that it hurt pretty bad at the end. Afterwords, I had three of the lab techs checking on me. Apparently, I looked pretty pale. The fantastic news... Paul and I signed up for a prenatal screening that requires two more blood tests. One of which, is only a couple weeks away. This baby is already creating a list of things to hold over its head and make it feel guilty about! :) I'm such a good Catholic (minus the going to church part). Anyway, being tired already, that drained the rest of my energy. Hence, I'm in bed.

We don't have another appointment with our doctor until the first week of April. That's when we'll be entering the second trimester. I can't wait to get there! Let's just say, I haven't been feeling top notch lately.

We're in week eight now. That means that Baby Winn is the size of a kidney bean now! Our little kidney bean has webbed hands and feet and its tail is almost gone! Speaking of kidneys, for some reason, the baby develops three sets of kidneys. All three sets have been formed now, but it will only keep the last and third set to be its actual kidneys. That's all for now folks!

This is what Baby Winn looks like now. Let's hope they start to resemble a human soon!

Baby's First Picture

The doctor shouldn't quit her job to become a photographer but it is solid proof of life. We saw the heart beat and everything! The blur under the cross-hairs is what you are looking for. The fancy machine puts our Estimated Delivery Date (EDD) at 10/06/2011 but they don't make an official one until 16 weeks. The little tyke is a solid 0.8cm head to rump.

Next up is a first pregnancy orientation on Thursday the 24th. We'll find out more about our other upcoming appointments then.
